Somewhere off the coast of Vietnam in the South China Sea, 1989. An F-14 Tomcat climbs into the evening sky off the coast of Vietnam, twin afterburners blazing as it accelerates away into the fading light.

Shot on fast film to make the most of the difficult low-light conditions, the photograph carries a heavy analogue grain that has become inseparable from the image itself. Rather than hiding the imperfections of film, they amplify the moment, giving the Tomcat a sense of speed and movement that feels almost cinematic.

The glowing burners, streaking exhaust and deep blue sky capture a fleeting moment of naval aviation exactly as it happened. Raw, imperfect and moving far too quickly to wait for the perfect photograph. This one however, comes quite close to it.

Available in both Digital Gallery Edition (PDF) and Premium Print Edition (sized 16x20"). Please allow approximately 5 business days for dispatch. European and US made.
